Zygomatic Implants

Zygomatic implants require specific knowledge and skill. Here at Cashel Daisley, we’re proud to be one of the UK’s only practices to offer this ground-breaking treatment.

About zygomatic implants

If you don’t have enough jawbone for ordinary implants, you might qualify for zygomatic implants. These special restorations can support a dental bridge in your upper jaw, even if you’ve suffered significant bone loss.

Zygomatic implants are longer than traditional implants, so they can be fixed to the zygomatic arch (that strong bit of bone that makes up your cheekbone). This extra length means that you can have implant surgery in one stage, because you won’t need any of the bone grafting operations necessary with regular implants.

These special implants work alongside ordinary ones; we tend to place two zygomatic implants with two to four regular implants. If necessary, we can even use four zygomatic implants to secure your smile.

The procedure

Before placing your zygomatic implants, we’ll take a CBCT scan to see how much bone there is in your upper jaw. This helps us plan the specific placement of your implants.

The next step is to create a structural model of your jaw, so we can assess the shape of your cheekbone and jaw – no invasive surgery needed! That said, we might use guided surgery in certain cases, to make sure your implants are placed precisely.

We can fit a fixed bridge on the same day as your implants, so you’ll have a permanent alternative to loose dentures in just one day. The bridge will look, feel and function just like natural teeth, giving you an immediate confidence boost.

Why you should consider them

Zygomatic implant treatment is considerably less invasive than traditional sinus lifting or bone grafting, so it’s more comfortable for you. Plus, we carry it out under sedation, so you don’t need to worry about feeling any pain. The procedure is much shorter than traditional implant treatment too!

The best part is, the whole procedure is completed in a single session, meaning you don’t have to wait six months for a confident new smile.
