Dental Veneers
- Are you embarrassed to smile?
- Do you cover your mouth with your hand?
- Do you feel the look of your teeth is affecting your confidence?
- Do you hate people asking you to ‘give them a smile’ for photos?
- Do people think you’re shy, quiet or lack confidence because you don’t smile
Have you ever wondered how leading Hollywood celebrities you see in the press have such beautiful smiles?
We can let you into a secret – the answer is porcelain or composite veneers.
You don’t have to be a celebrity to have the big, beautiful smile of your dreams. More and more people are realising that cosmetic dental treatments can be a life changing and affordable procedure.
What are veneers?
Dental veneers are made from an ultra-thin layer of ceramic porcelain, acrylic or composite and are bonded onto the front of the teeth. Veneers are often described as instant orthodontics, as they can achieve the aesthetic results that braces take months or years to achieve. Here at our practice in Glasgow, composite or porcelain veneers can be used to:
- Close spaces and gaps between teeth
- Eliminate overcrowding and tuck in teeth that stick out
- Restore worn or chipped teeth
- Cover a stain and permanently whiten and brighten teeth
- Bring out hidden teeth
How long does treatment take?
We are delighted to have an in-house ceramic dental laboratory. Dr Cashel can design and craft composite or porcelain veneers specifically for you while you wait. This means that after your smile has been planned, it can be created and fitted in just one visit.
What are the benefits?
Lifelike appearance
Because they slip right over your normal teeth, veneers don’t look artificial or out of place. They can even be aesthetically improved so that your smile looks better than ever before. While their whiteness will definitely attract attention, no one has ever complained about the compliments they get from having veneered teeth.
Long-lasting whiteness
You get a permanent change in colour when you choose veneers. With porcelain, it’s truly permanent. Other materials may need a touch up after ten years or so, depending on your diet and if you smoke.
Still, compared to other options like whitening or bleaching your teeth, the difference with veneers is as long lasting as it gets. They are extremely stain-resistant too, meaning even if discolouration does happen over time, it will take many years.
Improved durability
Nature has designed our teeth to be extremely durable. They’re meant to let us bite through some pretty tough forms of food. But even nature has its limitations. Veneers don’t, especially if you go with porcelain.
Your teeth will become vastly more scratch-resistant with veneers protecting them. They also won’t chip as easily either. While you shouldn’t go looking for opportunities to prove their strength, veneers are about as durable as it gets and with good dental hygiene, you can expect upwards of ten years lifetime from porcelain veneers.
