Five a day?
March 12th, 2012My children’s eyes lit up when they saw the headlines in the papers yesterday indicating that fruit and vegetables are bad for the teeth. Although I spend most of my days here at Cashel Daisley dealing with dental implants and cosmetic dentistry, basic oral health is still very important to me. The last thing I want is to transform a smile only to find that the patient needs more work further down the line because of bad eating habits or poor oral hygiene.
My advice to patients (and my children) is not to snack between meals. The natural acids and sugars in fruit will damage your teeth if you graze on them during the day but not if you have them at main mealtimes. The same goes for fruit juices – water only between meals, but fruit juice is allowed at mealtimes (Coke on a Friday night, but that is a different story).

A busy month
March 5th, 2012February was a busy month for Cashel Daisley. Kerry Graham, our hygenist, had a baby boy. While Kerry is on maternity leave our hygiene patients will be well looked after by our dental therapist Jim Thomson. Jim (and Kerry) are both specially trained to look after the dental implants we place for many of our patients.
We also have a new member of staff, Vicky Tait who joins Jenn Shaw who came to work with us at the end of last year and our practice manager Holly Dickinson.
Jim, Holly, Jenn and Vicky (and of course principal dentist David Cashel) look forward to seeing here in Glasgow you soon, whether you want a full cosmetic smile makeover or a simple freshening up of your smile.

Smile of the Week
February 6th, 2012Many of our patients spend years being unhappy with their smiles before coming to us for cosmetic dentistry in Glasgow. They are delighted by how quickly and easily they are transformed. Why don’t you come and see what we can do for you?
“I have never been happy with my appearance. After years of disliking my smile, I decided to find out what could be done to improve it.
I am amazed at the results, my smile is straight, my appearance is improved but the teeth look so natural, which was important to me. I feel confident and a lot happier with my appearance.
Everyone was extremely helpful and reassuring to me as a nervous patient undergoing a radical transformation. I needed to trust the people doing the work, and I did from the first time we met. Thank you. “

Spring bride?
January 27th, 2012If you are getting married this year it is time to make sure your smile is at its best. This could involve anything from simple tooth whitening to a full smile makeover. If you are a nervous patient, we offer sedation dentistry – although David Cashel has such a calm, caring manner that many patients who previously couldn’t consider treatment without sedation don’t need it.
This is what one of our patients had to say about the treatment she had before her wedding:
“Thank you so, so much for all the time and effort you put in to make sure I would have my dream smile for my wedding day. I am absolutely delighted with the results and have had so many compliments, especially on the wedding day itself. I really appreciate everything you did so thanks again, I would recommend you to anyone!”

Around the country
January 19th, 2012Although we are based in Glasgow, we see patients from all over Scotland. Today on tor cosmetic dentistry we’ve had a patient from Aberdeen for crowns and veneers and a new patient from Stranraer who’ll be having a smile makeover with us. It’s been a busy day for dental implants with patients from Glasgow, Bearsden and Dumbarton. Later David will be getting a train to Leicester to find out about the latest software for our cerec machine which will let him carry out treatment even more quickly.

Smile of the Week
January 12th, 2012Anne came to us unhappy with her smile. This is what she has to say after her smile makeover which included a bridge, crowns and veneers.
“I came to see David because I was concerned about discoloured fillings in my front teeth. A prominent eye tooth, and lots of old metal fillings from my school days. David explained what could be done and outlined a course of treatment.
It has taken quite a few months, but my old fillings have been replaced, the eye tooth removed and several front teeth capped or crowned.
I was well taken care of during each appointment. David and his team, are always friendly and helpful, making the treatments as relaxing and pain free as possible. Some of the appointments lasted several hours, but the pain and discomfort afterwards was minimal, and always much less than I expected.
I am very pleased indeed with my new smile and would certainly recommend David to anyone thinking of undergoing a course of dental treatment.”

Happy New Year
January 9th, 2012We’ve been back at work here in Glasgow for a couple of days now. Dr Cashel has already placed a few dental implants. The patient he is seeing just now is one of our more nervous patients and has opted to have her treatment carried out under sedation. Later today he’ll be custom designing and fitting an inlay using our in-house lab, all in one visit.
We’re looking forward to seeing even more transformed smiles this year. Will yours be one of them?

Parisian style in Glasgow
November 29th, 2011I noticed quite a few reports in the papers this weekend about the Parisian dentist who is said to have treated the Duchess of Cambridge. The articles were about moving away from a blocky “American” smile to give a more natural look.
This is nothing new to me. I have a lot of techniques I use to make sure that my patients have the beautiful, natural looking smiles that they want. Depending on what is needed, patients here in Glasgow can have implants, veneers, crowns, bridges, plastic surgery for the gums, tooth whitening…the list goes on and on. We have our own in-house lab so I can design veneers and crowns exactly the way you want them, while you wait. Even the smiles that my patients describe as their “Hollywood” smiles have that natural touch.
So although most of us would like a trip to Paris, there’s no need to make a visit to the dentist there.
